WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE
OUR AIM: to create the first permanent archive and museum of British occult and esoteric history, located in the north of England.
Britain has a rich magical legacy. and we want to capture, preserve and present the rich diversity and history of our occult and esoteric practices. We want to present these magical items, that whisper stories, in an educational way to magical practitioners and the general public and bring back a sense of wonder into our world.
For over 400 years, people who dared to be different have practised secret esoteric, magical, and occult traditions. this is especially true in the North of England, which became an esoteric hotbed in Victorian times.
From the witch trials at Pendle Hill, the Yorkshire Dales and Newcastle, to the Golden Dawn’s 1888 temple in Bradford and the birth of Chaos Magic in Leeds nearly a century later, this region is full of extraordinary stories, and we hope to see the museum established in the North of England.
Behind Custodia Borealis lies a dedicated team of historians, writers, collectors, and museum professionals volunteering their time to make this vision a reality.
We Are establishing a charity and will be seeking grants and funding. With momentum already building, we want to gauge and grow wider community support.
